Founded in 1987, the concept for the Fort Bend Leadership Forum grew out of what was perceived to be a real and increasing need for volunteer leadership in Fort Bend County. The Fort Bend Leadership Forum offers structured learning opportunities in an atmosphere that stimulates creative thinking and encourages participants to work together to utilize both new and proven tools to meet the challenges of today and to prepare for tomorrow. The Leadership Forum is a nineteen year tradition of creating experiences and opportunities to increase the participant’s knowledge of Fort Bend County. This tradition simultaneously establishes valuable community relationships and resources and develops leadership skills that will enhance participants’ values personally, professionally and as community stakeholders. As a member of the 2008 Leadership Class, Kristen Lipsman, found the leadership course to be very exciting and rewarding. ‘The ten-month program covered a variety of topics such as state and national government, education, diversity, infrastructure, health and social services and more!”
